A WOMAN has been sentenced to an 18-month community order and handed a 10-year restraining order for harassing Hampshire's Police and Crime Commissioner.

Teresa Skelton, 65, from Winchester, was found guilty in May of harassing Donna Jones.

Skelton was sentenced on July 2 at Southampton Magistrates’ Court.

The harassment involved repeatedly confronting Ms Jones at police and public meetings between 2021 and 2024.

Ms Jones said: "The sentencing brings an end to a long, sustained, personal vendetta against me.

"This has affected my ability to carry out my role as Police and Crime Commissioner.

"It’s also affected my family, who have also been targeted, and my security.

"Teresa Skelton’s offending against me started in 2020, and her actions were, in the words of the judge, 'targeted, persistent, distressing, and unacceptable'.

"The judge also noted that she has shown no remorse for her behaviour, which has been sustained and targeted.

"The sentence sends a clear message to others who think they can get away with malicious and intimidating behaviour that their actions will result in legal consequences."

Ms Jones said the 10-year restraining order would allow her to return to her role without fear.
