Charities have received a welcome boost thanks to fundraising efforts.

Former Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Gordon Bailey, and former Mayoress, Karen Hamilton, raised funds throughout their mayoral year and presented cheques to four organisations: Green Buttercup Dementia Services, The Abel Foundation, Unity, and the Andover and Romsey Foodbank.

Councillor Gordon Bailey said: "It has been a privilege to support these incredible charities throughout our mayoral year.

"The dedication of their staff and volunteers is inspiring, and we hope these donations will help them continue their outstanding work within our communities."

Each charity provides vital support to people across Test Valley, from families affected by dementia and mitochondrial disease to those experiencing hardship.

Ms Hamilton said: "Choosing our mayoral charities was an easy decision because we wanted to support organisations that are changing lives every single day.

It has been an honour to work alongside them, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended events, donated and helped us raise these funds.

This is a wonderful example of what our community can achieve when people come together."

The cheque presentations marked the end of a mayoral year focused on championing and supporting those making a meaningful difference in the community.
