Poundland in Andover town centre is set to close temporarily this weekend ahead of a planned refit and restock after the retailer confirmed it will remain on the High Street.

The store at 11–15 High Street will shut after trading on Sunday evening, July 19, before undergoing work over the following days.

It is due to reopen on the morning of Wednesday, July 29.

A spokesperson said the team will be "working hard over the next week or so to get the store back up and running and looking in amazing shape."

The update follows a recent reversal of the chain’s earlier decision to close the branch permanently.

Poundland had previously announced the store would shut on July 29 after failing to agree new lease terms with the landlord.

However, a deal has now been secured, allowing the shop to continue trading in Andover.

The development marks the second time closure plans for the store have been overturned and will come as welcome news for both staff and customers.

Employees had been undergoing consultation during the uncertainty, while shoppers had been taking advantage of clearance sales ahead of the previously planned closure.

Poundland said it is pleased to be able to continue serving the town.
