Southern Water will close roads in Hurstbourne Tarrant while it seals the village sewer network.

Southern Water says work has begun in Ithorpe and crews will be "working our way down to St Mary Bourne throughout the summer and into Autumn" to "help protect your local environment."

The scheme will involve sealing sections of the existing sewers to improve their performance and reduce the risk of pollution incidents.

The road between Dines Close and The Square will close on Friday, July 31, and from Monday, August 3, to Thursday, August 6, for safety work.

A leaflet sent to residents warns that "there will be no through traffic," with signed diversions in place.

Southern Water says temporary traffic management will operate while crews are on site and is urging motorists to follow the alternative routes.

Customers can get updates through the firm’s 24-hour phone lines and online incident map.

The company has thanked villagers for their patience and is encouraging anyone concerned about access, deliveries or public transport to get in touch so potential issues can be discussed in advance.
