In a statement, her family said: "It is with great sadness that our family announce the death of Gillian ‘Gilly’ Dixon.

"Wife, Mum, Grandma, Mumma G or friend, however you knew her she would have touched your heart in the biggest of ways.

"The kindest, most caring and gentle person, she put everyone before herself and worried about everyone, even those she barely knew.

"Born and bred in Hampshire, she loved the countryside, living in Winchester, Stockbridge and Houghton.

"A hairdresser all her life and in retirement enjoying days out with her beloved husband Clive, together for 61 years and married for 56.

"She enjoyed nothing more than being surrounded by her family, tending her garden with her dogs and chickens around her feet or having a good chat over a coffee with friends, she was a true lady.

"She will be truly missed and many have shared that Stockbridge won’t be the same without Gilly."

The crash happened between the A303 junction and Cowdown Lane.

The driver of the Fiat, an 80-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in a stable condition.
