One of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in UK men will be addressed at a free prostate screening event in Abbotts Ann.

The Prostate Project will visit Abbotts Ann War Memorial Hall on September 26, from 11am to 3pm.

Eligible men can receive a free PSA blood test from phlebotomists.

Testing is available to men aged 50 to 70, Black men aged 45 and over, and men aged 45 to 70 with a family history of prostate, breast or ovarian cancer.

Organisers said the test does not involve an intimate examination.

An abnormal PSA result will be discussed by a Clinical Nurse Specialist, who will explain next steps and issue a referral letter for the patient’s GP.

The hall will become a Prostate Information Hub, offering information, answers, support and services from the charity.

Appointments can be booked online through the QR code on publicity materials or at prostate-project.org.uk.

A resident said: "One of the things I value most about village life is the way we look out for one another."

Organisers said testing is open to residents of Abbotts Ann, Upper and Lower Clatford, Amport, Monxton, Grately and Quarley. Donations are welcome to support the charity’s work.

The service is free, and eligible residents are encouraged to book.
