Pupils from military families have received a renewed commitment of support from schools across Hampshire and Wiltshire.

Staff from The Wellington Academy joined representatives from local secondary schools and Andover College to sign an Educational Covenant.

The agreement sets out a joint commitment to help pupils from military families receive the same opportunities and advantages as children from non-military families.

Andover College 6th Form hosted the event, which marked the culmination of a year-long Military Champion initiative to ensure that pupils from a military background receive the same opportunities and advantages which children from non-military families enjoy.

The signing also involved Lt Col RT Richard Wade from Andover Army HQ.

Teachers Jennifer Moore and Kasia Cooper signed the agreement on behalf of The Wellington Academy. It supports the academy’s continuing work with service pupils during school moves, parental deployment and separation, as well as other challenges linked to military life.

Kasia Cooper said: "Everyone at The Wellington Academy is fully committed and dedicated to providing continued support and help for our students from a military background."

She added: "This is also alongside the celebrations of important milestones for them and their families."
