OLDER People’s Forums have been set up across the country to act as an independent collective voice for all people over 50 – and now one could be launched in Andover.

The aim of these forums is to speak on behalf older people about issues which affect their quality of life, health and wellbeing.

This is to be achieved by consulting with older people on issues relevant to them and then bringing any areas of concern or unmet need to the attention of statutory authorities and the general public alike for action.

Next Tuesday an initial meeting will be held when it is hoped to set up an Older People’s Voice Forum for Andover and surrounding parishes if the need and support is there.

The meeting will take place from 2pm to 4pm in the Upper Guildhall, Andover.

Everyone is welcome from individuals to carers for people who are over 50 or organisations concerned about the wellbeing of older people.

The Older People’s Voice is supported by Age Concern; Help the Aged, Test Valley Community Services, Test Valley Borough Council, Andover Neighbour Care and Hampshire County Council.
