THURSDAY saw Andover become the official headquarters of the British Army when the minister for Armed Forces Nick Harvey declared the facility open.
What was known as HQ QMG and then DLO is now HQLF – Headquarters Land Forces under the command for General Sir Peter Wall.
The move to Andover means that the ccmmand at Wilton, in use since the time of General Eisenhower in World War II, is closing.
See next Friday’s Andover Advertiser for photos and a report on the opening, the importance of what was said by top brass and what it means for the town.
