HAMPSHIRE road chiefs have taken a u-turn on plans to salt some of the county's major roads this evening.
Hampshire County Council (HCC) announced earlier today (Monday) that they would be gritting main roads at 7pm this evening, with temperatures are due to plummet overnight.
But plans were changed after daytime temperatures reached highs of up to 13C in parts of the county.
Overnight temperatures are no longer expected to dip below freezing.
A statement on Hampshire Highways Twitter page said: "Due to the unprecedented sunshine and mild weather, our teams will not be out salting tonight as road surface temperatures are now set to remain above zero. Enjoy."
