MORE than 50,000 people in North Hampshire have now received a vaccine for Covid-19, new figures show.

North Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group confirmed that as of last Friday, more than 52,000 people in North Hampshire have been vaccinated for the virus.

The vaccine centres in Basingstoke – at The Hampshire Court Hotel, Basingstoke Fire Station, and Superdrug, are currently offering the jab to those in the fifth and sixth cohort – all those 65 years of age and over, and adults aged 16 to 65 years in an at-risk group.

Care home residents, frontline health and social care workers, those aged over 70, and those who are clinically extremely vulnerable have already been invited to have a vaccine.

Once all those over the age of 50 have received a vaccination, the rest of the population will be offered a jab, with priority to be determined at a later date.
