A NETBALL star for an Andover based team has scooped a national award.

FM Eclipse Netball captain Laura White was recently presented England Netball’s prestigious Rose Award last month.

White, who is a Major in the Royal Electrical Mechanical Engineers (REME), was given the award for her exceptional services to netball, both civilian and military.

The award caps an exceptional few years for White, who has led her Andover based-side, FM Eclipse, to back-to-back league wins in the Basingstoke Premier League.

Meanwhile White has also captained the British Army Open Squad to victory over the RAF and Royal Navy for four consecutive years in the Inter-Services trophy.

Rewarded for her leadership of the REME and Army squads, White, who usually plays GA or GS, was selected to captain the Combined Services team in 2014-15.

Her passion drove them forward to peak performance levels and the team were crowned World Corporate Games champions.

England Netball were also impressed by White’s ability and willingness to share her wealth of knowledge by coaching her military Corps team and FM Eclipse, who nominated her for the award.

FM Eclipse coach Kathryn Evans said “We are delighted for Laura and incredibly proud of her for winning this national award.

“It’s thoroughly deserved and recognises all her outstanding work moving the sport of netball forward.”
