FOR the first time in the history of the Hampshire County Bowling a husband and wife have held the Women’s Presidential role and the Men’s in the same year and they are both members of Andover. Bowling Club.

Earlier this month, their home club based in Vigo Road Recreation Ground hosted the Hampshire County Presidents day as both Women’s and Men’s County Presidents bowl for the club.

It was a chance to show the club at its best and no one was disappointed.

Almost 50 officers, members and guests from around the county attended, playing a game of bowls followed by a meal.

Although the facilities are limited the members of Andover gave a day to remember.

The greenkeepers are to be commended as the players commented on the preparation and quality of the surface.

The clubhouse was laid out in Bowls Hampshire colours, even down to the floral arrangements on the top table and looked amazing.

The meal was a picture of colour and absolutely delicious bringing compliments to one of their member’s daughters Helen’s efforts from all the guests.

During the day the President's raffle raised over £300 and this will be given to their nominated charity the Parkinsons Society.

After a very special day for both presidents Keith Taylor said: "We know that when the guests left they had all had the very best of days, all thanks to the many members that gave their time and effort."

The friendly club play in various leagues, hold a weekly club night and also play friendly games.
