JAKE Archer was at the Snetterton round of the British GP2 championship last weekend.

Unfortunately, he fell ill almost immediately he arrived, suffering a high temperature and lacking energy.

Having gone out in free practice one on the Friday he skipped free practice two as he was confined to his bed.

On Saturday morning he rose to take part in qualifying but was still unwell.

Race one was later that day and still in a bad way the team decided it was not worth the risk sending him out on the Kalex Moto2 machine in that state.

Sunday morning Andover rider Archer mustered enough energy to make the short warm up session but was still too drained to perform at his best.

Archer was extremely disappointed but called it a day and returned to Andover.

Archer is expected to be fully fit for the next round which is at the home circuit of Thruxton from August 2 to 4.
