New Street recorded their second win in five days and moved up to eighth place in the table, but it was not a game that will live long in the memory.

Street showed one change from Tuesday with Ross Cook returning to lead the attack and were quickly on the front foot with a Lewis Williams shot flashing past the far post.

Brad Waters made ground on the right but Shane Lock was inches too high as he met the cross before the visitors forced their way into the game. Cal Stratton was proving a handful on their right flank and in the space of a few minutes he was stopped in the area by a superb tackle by Shaun Dallimore, collected a yellow card for a very innocuous challenge and then, presumably injured, was replaced by Jack Draper.

There was not a lot of action in either penalty area though Blackfield were enjoying more of the possession and missed a chance when Josh Carey fired into the side netting from a good position.

Visiting keeper Ollie Harrison fumbled a Williams' cross away after a clever three-man move and a Harry Lawton header was too high and a Waters shot too straight before, what in truth was an uninspiring first half. ended with the scoresheet blank.

The opening five minutes on the re-start belonged to Street as Cook was just too high before persistence by Mikey Davis on the left won a corner.

Davis took the kick himself and Luke Dempsey rose the highest to power a header into the roof of the net, his first goal of the season.

Ben Rodwell saved from Draper at his near post before Harrison punched away a cross and Street increased their lead after 16 minutes.

Lawton and Lock combined on the left and the latter’s hooked cross was headed in by Cook at the far post.

Shaun Dallimore made an important block in a goalmouth scramble and Draper was way too high with a shot as the home defence sought an offside flag.

Cameron Thatcher replaced the hard-working Lawton as Blackfield enjoyed another spell of possession without threatening the home goal.

Malachi Dotse came on for Brad Waters and Rodwell saved well from Harry Edmondson before the game was halted for treatment to Cook after a nasty-looking collision.

New boy Alfie Saunders had entered the fray earlier in place of Jamie Blackburn and made his mark with a break from midfield and a pass that sent Davis through to calmly make the score three as the clock reached the 90-minute mark.

Dotse saw a shot saved at full stretch by Harrison and all survived some 10 minutes of stoppage time without further alarm.
