THE second Castle Combe Race Day of the season took place on Bank Holiday Monday in front of a large crowd who came to the 1.85 mile Wiltshire circuit, writes Tim Crisp.

With mixed weather conditions they were treated to some out standing driver in some very trying track conditions.

As there was no CCRC GT championship round on the day, Andover driver Jamie Sturges teamed up with Richard Knight in a Honda Civic 1998 for the 30 lap Dave Allan Trophy Race. On a drying track the pair finished in 8th place overall and third in class.

In the modified Ford Series there were two more Andover based drivers in action James Allen in his SCC Performance Ford Focus RS 2wd had an DNF in race one due to a mechanical failure which meant he did not take part in the second race, meanwhile Mick Head in his Cosworth 2.0L Turbo Escort recorded a 4th and 3rd in class results from his two outings.
