ANDOVER New Street returned to the top of the Wessex League Division One table after a 1-0 home win over promotion rivals Tadley Calleva.
It made up for the disappointment of 3-2 loss at the hands of US Portsmouth last Saturday.
On Tuesday night, in a very even contest, the winning goal came with five minutes left in the game Zac Hine and Shane Lock combined for Zach Neve to score.
Manager John Smith said: "I am chuffed to bits with the win and I looked like it was going to be a draw, but we don't do draws as we have not had one all season.
"The defence played really well to keep them out."
Last Saturday, a rusty New Street took until the second half to get going and in the end went down 3-2 despite goals from Shane Lock and new signing Matt Scott from Andover Town.
This Saturday, the new leaders New Street are away on the Isle of Wight at lowly East Cowes Vics and then on Tuesday night they are in League Cup action away at top Premier Division AFC Portchester.
