I REFER to the current planning application for change of use from a warehouse to waste wood incinerator on the Walworth Business Park.
It has been proven burning chemically-treated waste wood results in the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere, especially during facility start up and malfunction (which can be frequent) when the levels are magnitudes higher.
The topography of the area means such toxins could be concentrated in the vicinity of an ever increasing number of residential homes depending on the weather.
Although the issue of granting planning permission for change of use is a HCC responsibility, it is TVBC Environmental Health that are responsible for ensuring local pollution levels are controlled and as landlords it is TVBC that decide who they lease their properties to.
Concerned residents should encourage their local councillors to become involved and ensure TVBC do all they can to protect Andover residents. TVBC has the power to stop this!
