REGARDING the letter 'Think of the cows'.
The writer, who does not give his name, blames the badger for ruining the livelihood of his farmer friend. He sounds really upset and emotive saying, I quote, 'He had (the farmer) 129 cows in his milking herd, today he has 60, next week he will have zero, why? Because the whole lot will be slaughtered. The week after that the young stock will be slaughtered too. Some of these cows will be slaughtered along with their mothers.'
The truth is, terrified cows are slaughtered every day, the calves are snatched from their distraught mothers and slaughtered for veal, then the cows are unnaturally artificially inseminated over and over again to produce milk which is intended for their young, until the cows are worn out and then killed.
This cruel abuse, Mr Anonymous, 'is the sad scenario played out up and down the country on a daily basis.' By the farmer ... Not the badger.
