ISN’T it strange how, as we mature, we can’t remember what we did last week but can recall something that happened 70 years ago?

We kept hens to ensure a regular supply of eggs; a hangover from wartime rationing.

Suddenly, the supply of eggs diminished, sometimes stopping for a couple of days.

Then I discovered that a neighbour’s son was stealing them and selling them. He even tried to sell them to us!

I wonder if this is the forerunner to the food industry’s term for ‘takeaways’.
