THANK you for the reminder of the campaign for an Andover Town Council (ATC) — (Back through the Pages August 17).
After a slow start the Town Council has proved itself an asset to Andover. Its team of unpaid, volunteer councillors and dedicated staff are providing the voice that Andover so sadly missed in the past.
Its planning committee is regularly holding developers and planners to account, the ATC sponsored youth council engages with young people, the town’s allotments estate (one of the biggest in the country) is run efficiently and the council is actively supporting local businesses through the Town Centre Partnership and Management.
Its councillors are working with many local charities and community groups to promote and improve Andover.
The council is regularly supporting and running numerous events in the town including the Christmas Lights, A Fest, the Gardening Fair, the Shilling Fair and the Festival of Motoring.
Andover has a town council of which it can be proud and which is actively working with the borough and county councils to represent and improve Andover for all its residents. I look forward to future successes.
Cllr Len Gates, Linton Drive, Andover
