LET one thing be clear.

In the letter written by Len Gates about Brexit (Letters, September 7)) there was no mention of his political affiliation.

He is a Liberal Democrat.

Liberal Democrats are also almost blindly pro EU so it’s worth remembering everything he writes is consequently coloured.

He asserts it was the leavers who spewed out more misinformation and misleading promises than the remainers.

Oh yes.

So what happened to the economic Armageddon, the plunge in productivity, in fact pretty much everything including the sky falling in preached by the remainers?

Er, not a lot. As for the leavers promises, in the main they haven’t been tested yet so they can’t be called lies (though I expect they’ll be as bad. Politicians made them and they are all as bad as each other) He bleats about democracy but I’m fairly sure you wouldn’t hear a peep out of him asking for a second referendum if the remain side had won!

I’m not entirely sure why he thinks 70 million Turks are on their way here?

As for the younger generation deprived of their opportunities in the EU I understand they know no different and might prefer it to stay that way. However, there are older people who know how it was before the EU, how we got lied to and sold down the river. As for Brits abroad, they don’t contribute to this country anymore so why should they have had a vote?

The clincher is easy in the end. We need to get out before Italy collapses (which it will) as chaos will ensue.
