MY THANKS to all who helped to make the Community Christmas Day lunch a special day.
Guests and volunteers all enjoyed the camaraderie and the food. Many individuals and organisations are involved:
—Lion Oak Court staff and residents for allowing the invasion!
—Andover Churches Together (volunteers, funding and publicity).
—Waitrose and Andover Charity Trustees (funding).
—Carters Meadow and St Thomas’, Charlton (loan of tables, chairs, crockery and other equipment).
—Sue for transporting all this furniture and crockery in her horsebox.
In addition, there was an army of individual volunteers who contributed on the day by providing transport for the guests in their cars, by using their professional skills in the preparation of a ‘proper’ Christmas lunch, and by their presence and goodwill on the day as well as on Christmas Eve in preparation for the event.
I would finally add that thanks to much generosity the raffle raised £142 and donations have been sent to Andover Foodbank and Water Harvest (a Winchester based charity working with the poorest people in India).
Thank you all and see you next Christmas!
Elizabeth Scrace and Rev Jill Bentall
