FIRSTLY I congratulate all those people who voiced their opinions about the recent decision by the water authorities to dump waste into probably the best chalk stream in England.

Those people that made the decision certainly had to leave with their tails between their legs. More importantly, it exposed the ignorance of those in powerful positions who can make such far-reaching decisions without the consent of stakeholders.

Most of us anglers can only dream about fishing in the Test with the cost of doing so being beyond our means. That does not mean that we cannot appreciate the amount of work needed to provide the perfect environment for the fish and the anglers, also to use the many beautiful walks close by.

The main point of this letter is to ask or beg those well-placed people to concentrate their energies on well-deserved other rivers in the length and breadth of Britain. Maybe a national petition?
