Residents and staff at a Weyhill care home put the ‘fun’ into ‘fundraising’ by organising an afternoon of high tea and live entertainment.

Rothsay Grange Care Home, located on Weyhill Road, hosted the high tea in its courtyard garden to raise money for Andover and District Mencap. The home also held a raffle with prizes donated by the homes activity team, with live music provided by local duo George & Ginger.

Cllr Iris Andersen, the president of Andover Mencap, said: “It has been such as lovely afternoon. Everyone has welcomed us so warmly and the staff have gone over and above to make this day a success. The Mencap Charity and Rainbow corner are very close to my heart and raising this money for them is just wonderful.”

On the day, head chef Debby served trays of finger sandwiches, scones with cream and jam as well as other delicious homemade sweet treats.

Amanda Cussen, general manager at Rothsay Grange said: “Andover & District Mencap is a great cause that helps many people in need and is also a cause very close to all our hearts.”

Andover Mencap supports individuals with learning disabilities and their families, enabling them to live independent lives as much as possible. One of its services is the Rainbow Corner, which provides respite care for children and young adults between three and 19 years old.
