A PRIMARY school in Ludgershall has announced its new head and deputy head pupils.

Wellington Eagles Primary Academy students Kylie, Bobby, Ronnie and Izzy have been selected as the new head pupils for the coming school year.

The Year 6 students found out that they had been chosen for the positions during an assembly held on Monday, October 3, and were handed their head pupil badges during the announcement.

The students went through a rigorous application process to apply for their positions, including undertaking interviews with headteacher Sarah Moytl-Johnson.

Head girl Kylie explained: “In the interview, we had to tell them why we wanted to do it and they asked us lots of questions.

Head boy Bobby added: “As we are the school of the Curious Child, we were asked what we would do to encourage curiosity. Which was really lucky as that was one of the main things I had planned out.”

One of the students' first duties was to have their photo taken with the new school therapy puppy Lillibet, which they all agreed was a great perk of the job.

The students will also be required to give presentations and show visiting parents around the school.

Ms Motyl-Johnson said: “We received applications from 11 of our Year 6 pupils; all of whom wanted to put themselves forward to become our head pupil/deputy head pupil.

“Ms Lawton and I interviewed them, and we have been genuinely touched at their heartfelt desire to become leaders and to make a difference.

“The theme throughout the interviews was how important kindness is in all we think, do and say.

“Well done to all four of you and to all the children who applied and are passionate about how they can make Eagles the best school in the world.

“Whether they were appointed or not, we are proud of them all for applying and thank all the parents for their time helping with the application process.”

The head pupils have lots of ideas on how to improve their school, and cannot wait to get started.
