A NEW magazine has been launched in a bid to help visitors navigate the city more easily.

The Heart of Hampshire Destination Management Partnership team and Visit Winchester at Winchester City Council have teamed up with the Winchester Business Improvement District to produce a new tourist guide to the city.

The magazine, which has been produced by The Marketing Collective, features itineraries and ideas for days out and is designed to attract visitors to the big attractions as well as help them to discover the lesser know areas.

Tina Scahill, creative director of The Marketing Collective said: “We wanted to showcase what is great about the city and highlight the bustling creative scene. We proactively support local artists when looking for themes for our Guides and the work The Colour Factory has done in Winchester bringing art quite literally to the streets is quite wonderful. Our interview with Jenny Muncaster from the Colour Factory gives a fascinating insight into the work she is creating and her colourful approach to life.

“We are really proud of the publications we have produced this year and it is great to see our Guest Magazine brand developing. Our new publication for Winchester is an exciting development for a city that has so much happening in its events scene and it has been fascinating pulling together the features for this first edition.”

Cllr Robert Humby, leader of Winchester City Council and Portfolio Holder for Tourism and Economic Development, added: “When you arrive in your hotel room, it’s good to be able to leaf through a magazine that gives you a deeper insight into what a destination is all about. The recommendations highlight features about what's hot in Winchester right now and point people in the right direction so they can access the Visit Winchester website, films and social media streams whilst visiting.”
