A CONMAN duped his way into a Basingstoke pensioner’s home, stealing cash and jewellery and persuading the victim to give him money.

The 65-year-old man was targeted at his home address in Knight Street, Basingstoke between 8pm and 9pm on August 22.

An 18ct gold ring belonging to the victim’s late grandmother was among the items stolen.

Police are now appealing for anyone with information to step forward.

The man is described as white, of a slim build, bald and about 5ft 10ins tall or taller.

Detective Constable Andy Panter said: “This ring has huge sentimental value to the victim as it belonged to his late grandmother.

“Did you see anything suspicious in the area? Any information, no matter how insignificant, could be helpful in this investigation.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Panter on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
