FOUR groups in Basingstoke stand to benefit in the latest rounds of National Lottery grants.

The money to be used by the Basingstoke groups totals £28,597 and is part of £3.2million being awarded by the Big Lottery Fund to 90 community projects in the South East.

Hampshire Wellbeing Services CIC, based at The Orchard, in White Hart Lane, Basingstoke, will receive £9,999 for a mentoring project called Community Youth Champions.

The funding will be used to train adults to become mentors and young people to become community champions in health and wellbeing, offering people advice on healthy lifestyles.

Old Basing and Lychpit Parish Council will receive £9,186 to help provide outdoor fitness equipment at Old Basing’s recreation ground.

Cuckoo Meadow Pre School, in Church Road, North Waltham, will get £1,509 to buy iPads and software to introduce ICT to children. 

Proteus Theatre Company will get £7,903.

The money will be used to deliver art workshops for adults with mental health issues.
