FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze in Basingstoke town centre.
Around six fire engines and more than 30 firefighters from Basingstoke, Tadley, Kingsclere and Odiham were called to the scene at 8.30pm, where an empty office block, previously occupied by IBM, is on fire.
Alencon Link has been closed off whilst crews deal with the incident.
A passerby told The Gazette that firefighters were smashing windows of the building, near Basingstoke railway station.
Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was in the top floor of the office block.
A full search of the building was conducted and no one was found inside.
Firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the building to tackle the flames, whilst an aerial ladder platform was used to fight the blaze from outside.
