EVERYBODY needs good neighbours, goes the famous Australian TV soap tune, and the county council is on the lookout for the best.
Locals are being asked to nominate people for the annual Good Neighbours awards scheme run by the county council together with Age Concern Hampshire and other charities.
And this year organizers are especially keen to celebrate the work of both young and old volunteers.
Chairman of the county council, Ken Thornber, who will be hosting the awards ceremony in Winchester Great Hall on March 20 2014, said: “All too often good deeds go unnoticed which is why it is important to pay tribute to the efforts of Hampshire’s volunteers.
“There are thousands of people across the county who are good neighbours, providing vital support within their local community.”
Nominations can be made by downloading a form from www.hants.gov.uk/goodneighboursaward or requesting one via civic.events@hants.gov.uk The closing date for nominations is January 20, 2014.
