TRAFFIC has been brought to a standstill after a bus collided with a car in Winchester city centre.
The Stagecoach number five to Badger Farm was in collision with a Mercedes SLK Kompressor on St George’s Street at around 1pm grid locking Monday lunchtime traffic.
A spokeswoman for the South Central Ambulance Service said that a call was received at 12.37pm of a road traffic collision and a paramedic treated a female in her twenties on the scene. She did not require hospital treatment.
David Smart, 49, of Hyde Gate, said: "I heard the bus toot it's horn as it went towards the car."
The driver side of the car suffered extensive damage to the door and window and has since been moved from the point of impact on the corner of Parchment Street.
A spokeswoman for Stagecoach said: "At around 1pm today (Monday 17 February), a car was involved in a collision with one of our buses on St George's Street. We understand that the incident did not result in any injuries to anyone involved. We will assist police with their inquiries into the cause of this accident."
Hampshire Constabulary spokespeople declined to comment further about any criminal action.
