AN Alresford secondary school is offering more places following the completion of a multi-million pound new maths block.

Perins says a limited number of extra places will be available for Year 7 students from September 2014.

The new Maths block, due to open in June, provides eight classrooms releasing pressure on class sizes.
Whilst the initial allocation of places for the September intake has been completed, Perins can take some new applications.

Headteacher Janice Bernard said: “The new Maths blocks development has enabled Perins to consider additional applications from September which we hope will help many students in their school choice.

“We often find that some students, for a number of reasons, are still seeking places well into the summer months, which can be very distressing.  We are keen to hear from any students that would like to be considered for these extra places at Perins.”

The school is planning a grand opening of the new block in early June and would like to invite Year 5 and 6 students and parents to come along and see this latest addition to the school.

Part-funded by the Academies Capital Maintenance Fund, the block complies with the latest environmental ratings system and features bright and airy classrooms, air-source heat pumps, energy efficient lighting and the high specification insulation.

Students interested in applying for a place at Perins from September should contact Hampshire County Council’s admissions team at www3.hants.gov.uk/education/admissions.
