WORK begins this month to design a £3.8 million underground pipe in one of Hampshire’s worst affected flood-hit villages.

Hambledon faced over 60 days of flooding during this winter’s wet weather, and now Hampshire County Council is investigating the position of the proposed underground pipe.

It will run through the centre of the village, will be approximately one metre in diameter, and carry water underground to prevent flooding.

It is hoped building will start in December, when the water table is low enough.
