AS the bunting blew in the summer’s day breeze residents of Old Alresford gathered for a spot of Appalachian dancing, hot dogs and some Mexican-themed treats.

The Old Alresford village green was the scene of the highly competitive dog show while children enjoyed the see-saw at this year’s annual fayre (June 21).

Organiser, Erika Sisk, said: “After the boats the great duck race took over the water and was so popular they sold out of ducks. The fun dog show attracted all shapes and sizes, and stalls were dressed to represent the teams in time for the World Cup. The plant stall represented Japan and the stall holders sported elegant kimonos.”

Crowds gathered for the Appalachian performance by dance group, Knickerbocker Glory, while the Brook saw Eastleigh Model Boat Club’s remote controlled boats being driven along the water.

King Alfred Bus company brought their wonderful open top bus and gave free rides to and from New Alresford much to the delight of all on the top deck, ducking low branches along The Weir,” Ms Sisk added. “There was a wonderful array of prizes, generously donated, for the grand draw which was headed by the first prize, an Apple mini ipad, and tickets were sold by the brightly dressed Brazilian team.

“A pretty super day out for all the family, including the dog. Don't miss it next year!”
