VOTING is soon to close for much-needed grants for community groups in Winchester.

Nineteen organisations have applied for a Hampshire County Council Have Your Say grant, which is designed to improve local environments, groups, or strengthen communities.

Up to £1,000 is up for grabs, and the money is administered by Winchester Area Community Action.

Among those hoping for the money are 1st Hursley Scouts, The Carroll Centre, Street Reach, Hyde900, Winchester Area Access for All and Crawley Village Indoor Sports Club.

Voting closes at midnight on Friday (Aug 22).
