THE Victorian front to a Winchester hospital has been given a makeover with a new-look entrance.
The new facade of Royal Hampshire County Hospital’s Butterfield Wing was officially opened by Hampshire Hospitals chairman Elizabeth Padmore.
She said: “I am delighted we can now see this much loved landmark restored to its former Victorian glory.
“We know how important the Royal Hampshire County Hospital is to the local population. We want to do everything we can to improve the environment for everyone who comes here, whether that’s staff, patients or visitors.”
The improvements include additional accessible parking and a bike shelter.
Ms Padmore was joined by members of the Nurses League and League of Friends as well as hospital staff, governors and members for the opening on Friday, September 12.
Afterwards guests enjoyed a talk about the hospital’s history and a tour of its old chapel.
