A MAIN city centre route faces overnight closures this week as part of plans to ‘future proof’ Hampshire roads.
The bottom of the High Street, City Bridge, and Chesil Street as far as the Old Station Approach traffic lights will be closed overnight from 9pm until 6am until Friday, September 26.
Work started last night as part of Hampshire County Council’s Operation Resilience.
The scheme is hoped to ‘future proof’ the county’s roads against extreme weather and increasing heavy traffic.
