WHEN a bridal shop opened up for a style session aimed at mothers of the bride one Winchester fiancée jumped at the opportunity alongside her proud mother.

Katy McCaffrey, of Cripstead Lane, was joined by mum Janice for a spot of accessory and hat shopping when Brides of Winchester hosted their special event as part of Winchester Fashion Week.

Miss McCaffrey, who also works as marketing coordinator for the event, run by Winchester Business Improvement District, marries her fiancée Sam Johnson at St Tropez in the south of France in June next year.

She’s yet to find her dress, which she hoped to get inspiration from at the event, for the ceremony which will be held in the gardens of a villa overlooking the bay.

“I want something sheer and understated and a really long veil,” she said. “There will be bluey hues as the two best men have that colour in their attire.”

Mrs McCaffrey, 66, of St Cross, said she couldn’t wait for the last her children to get married and was excited that her new granddaughter will be a flower girl.

“It’s going to be such a special occasion as the South of France means a lot to us as a family from holidays we’ve had,” she said. “Weddings are just really exciting.”
