A CHANDLER’S Ford school is gearing up to celebrate a milestone anniversary with series of events, including a celebratory tea party.

Former pupils and staff are being invited back to Hiltingbury Infant school to share their memories and photos of their time there as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.

The Mayor of Eastleigh, Cllr Maureen Sollitt, has also been invited to attend the tea party on Thursday November 30.

As well as the party, pupils have been getting involved with the celebrations by designing a logo which will be used throughout the year as the school stages events to mark the occasion and are looking forward to a 60s-themed activity morning.

Opened in a rather low-key affair in 1967 with 202 pupils on roll, the school – rated Outstanding by Ofsted in January 2016 - now teaches 270 children aged four to seven.

Records show there was no official opening of the school so staff and pupils are making sure the 50th anniversary is given the celebration it deserves.

Headteacher Cathy Moden said: “We are very proud of all that Hiltingbury Infant School has achieved over the last 50 years and are delighted to be celebrating this special event.

“It would be fantastic if past pupils and staff could join in our celebrations and share their experiences of their time at the school.’

Former pupils or staff members that would like to share their memories or attend the tea party, should contact the school by emailing adminoffice@hiltingbury-inf.hants.sch.uk or calling 02380 265414.
