A NEW restaurant has been granted planning permission
As reported Woking-based Cattlesteak House applied to move into 14 -15 Hanover Buildings - the heart of the city’s ‘lentil belt’.
Just doors away from vegan Cafe Thrive, whole food supermarket Rice Up and Kadampa meditation centre Cattle Steakhouse specialises in steaks and burgers.
Owner Nazim Ahmed will be bringing speciality “premium quality” halal menus to the city.
But he said he has had to adapt his own plans for the restaurant, after friends advised him he would need to serve alcohol as well in order to bring in customers.
Southampton City Council planning officers have given the new restaurant the go ahead.
A city council statement said: “Overall the scheme is judged to bring life back in to a currently inactive shopfront within the city centre and provide a desirable service to members of the public.”
Opening hours would be extended from 7am until midnight seven days a week.
Owner of Cafe Thrive Adam Taylor welcomed the new addition to the area.
He said: “Business wise it will be good to have a unit not empty.”
