A Chandler's Ford infant school are celebrating a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating following a visit from inspectors.

Fryern Infant School, on Oakmount Road in Chandlers Ford, was last inspected in September 2018.

The school, which is linked with the neighbouring Junior School, has maintained its good rating after the most recent visit from Ofsted officials in March, with the results being published recently.

Within the report, inspectors highlighted that pupils feel safe and welcome at the school and that pupils are pushed to achieve their best by members of staff.

Daily Echo: The inspection found that: “Children enjoy coming to school and feel safe, are confident learners and talk enthusiastically about the school’s values which include ambition, curiosity and reflection.”

Additionally, the inspector said that parents are trusting of the school's staff and the curriculum that has been put in place.

As written in the report, the inspector continued: “Parents have high levels of confidence in the school and can see the benefits that recent curriculum changes have made to pupils’ learning and engagement.

“The school has a strong ambition to provide high quality teaching for its pupils.”

Ofsted also highlighted strengths in pupils’ behaviour and “an excellent choice of wider opportunities" noting that “the school is particularly proud of its commitment to performing arts".

Reacting to the positive news, Jeremy Payne, Executive Headteacher of the Federation of Fryern Infant and Junior Schools, said: “We are a very strong and cohesive community and are delighted that the inspection team were so enthusiastic about our practice.

“Relationships are at the core of everything we do here at Fryern, and we aspire to fill our corridors with laughter, enthusiasm and energy every day.

“We are looking forward to building on the positivity of this inspection and continuing to provide all children with an environment within which they can thrive into the future.

“I feel lucky to work alongside such excellent colleagues within our wonderful community.”
