CRUISE company Royal Caribbean, which operates Independence of the Seas, pictured, from Southampton, looks likely to spark a price war with the unveiling of £2m of free flights for fly-cruise passengers next year.

The 10,000 flight give-away includes destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Rome and Venice.

During the promotion, seven-night breaks taking in destinations such as Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote will start from just £509 per person including flights, taxes and transfers instead of current pricing of £733 per person, as Royal Caribbean International will cover the cost of the flight.

Jo Rzymowska, associate vice president and general manager of Royal Caribbean International, UK and Ireland, explained: “Royal Caribbean is investing over £2m to encourage holidaymakers to take a cruise.

“This phenomenal offer will save a family of four up to £800 if they book a 2011 holiday early, and it is designed to encourage cruisers to take advantage of a range of Mediterranean favourites at an unbeatable price.”

The 10,000 flight give-away will be on a first-come, first-served basis for any of the applicable cruises which are booked and confirmed before December 20.

Royal Caribbean International also announced early bookings for selected Independence of the Seas cruises from Southampton can trigger savings of up to £500 per stateroom and free car parking at the port.
