THE SKY above Whitchurch was alight for the town’s annual fireworks display.
Whitchurch Festival Association held its firework and bonfire night in Millennium Meadow on Saturday.
The bonfire was lit at 6.30pm and the fireworks went off with a bang at 7pm.
Rob Dunlop, chairman of the festival association, said: “The bonfire and fireworks event on Saturday evening saw people in their hundreds turn out to enjoy another great evening of fun, food and fireworks.
“Organised by the Whitchurch Festival Association, but only made possible by the fantastic and unrelenting support from local volunteers, the evening offered tasty food, attractions, a Viking longboat bonfire and, once again, a fantastic fireworks display by Pyrotastic.”
He added: “Sincere thanks go out to all who helped with this event.”
People young and old came dressed for the fancy dress competitions’ theme of guys and ghouls, with prizes handed out for the best costumes. And visitors could warm up with a burger and a hot dog and keep refreshed at the licensed bar.
