AN exact replica of the First World War soldier statue which was stolen from outside the Royal British Legion Club in Tidworth last year has been cast and will take its rightful place in time for Remembrance Sunday this weekend.
The 4ft high bronze work, sculpted by internationally acclaimed local artist Vivien Mallock, was hoisted into position on Tuesday morning following its casting at the Talos Art Foundry at Project Workshop in Quarley, near Andover.
The original was stolen in the dead of night by metal thieves but the replacement incorporates significant security features designed to make that impossible.
A service of dedication will take place on Sunday at noon at the statue, which the whole town is welcome to attend.
