Old school set to be re-developed
12:00am Thursday 15th November 2012 in News
POTENTIAL buyers have been invited to submit sealed bids for a former village school.
Abbotts Ann’s original primary school in the heart of the conservation area is up for sale.
Planning permission exists to convert the old school building into two three bedroom homes. It also allows for a further two homes – one with three bedrooms and the other with two – to be built on the 0.296 acre site.
The old school has been replaced by a larger school in the village.
Chris Gooch, of Carter Jonas, said: “Abbotts Ann is a very popular community. It’s also thriving, with its own communityowned village shop and post office next to the equally popular public house. This is an exciting opportunity for developers to acquire a site which is ready to go, and, if a current planning appeal is successful, the two bedroom home will be substituted by a three bedroom property.”
He added: “As well as the new village school, which has an excellent reputation, there is also a wide choice of state and private schooling in the area.
“Road links are superb and rail commuting very easy so this is a development site that will have great appeal. I anticipate a strong level of interest.”
Unconditional sealed bids must be delivered to Carter Jonas at 9a, Jewry Street, Winchester, by 12pm on 21 November.
