POLICE in Wiltshire are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Amesbury which led to the arrest of a Tidworth man.

The incident took place outside The Bell public house on Salisbury Street on Tuesday 4 December between 10pm and 11pm.

A fight broke out between three men which resulted in one man being taken to Salisbury District Hospital with minor injuries.

Two men have now been arrested in relation to this incident.

A 20-year-old man from the Tidworth area has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

A 21-year-old man from Devon has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and a Section 39 offence of assault by beating.

Both have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

CCTV from the pub has identified a number of possible witnesses to this incident and Wiltshire Police are keen to hear from anyone in the area at this time.

In particular, following the fight, the CCTV footage shows a man in a chequered shirt helping the injured man on the floor and putting him in the recovery position. This man may have witnessed the incident and have crucial information on what happened.
