Bogus electricity men steal £1,000
10:00am Tuesday 1st January 2013 in News
AN ELDERLY man was targeted in a distraction burglary in which £1,000 was stolen.
The man, aged in his 80s, answered the door of his home in Recreation Road, in Ludgershall, shortly before 4pm on Monday. On the doorstep were two men posing as representatives from the ‘electricity board’.
The men told the victim that they needed to check his electricity sockets.
However, one of the men distracted the elderly man while the other searched the property, stealing about £1,000. The tricksters are described as being aged in their mid-thirties and were wearing workman style clothing.
Anyone with information should contact Dc Nick Holt, of the Salisbury Priority Crime Team, on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
