WHITCHURCH’S Neighbourhood Plan committee has announced the dates for three sessions for residents to express their views on the future of the town.

The meetings will take place at the Parish Hall tomorrow between 9am and 2pm, Wednesday between 5pm and 9pm and on Saturday, 8 March, between 9am and 2pm.

Whitchurch Town Council chairman John Clark said: “It is of my opinion that the Neighbourhood Plan is very important for Whitchurch, on the whole, and it is only right that the residents get involved.

“The object is to develop a Whitchurch that encompasses all aspects to make a good living environment for all.

“It is for this reason that residents should attend these meetings and voice their views on how they want the town to develop.

“For example, do they wish to keep it small and cosy or allow future development for it to become a larger commuter town?

“Obviously there are many young families living in Whitchurch and what are the needs for the very young and teenagers?

“As you can see there are many issues to be addressed.

“Without the residents’ input this plan will not work and then it would be too late for the people of Whitchurch to complain.

“Therefore, it is really important for the residents to take an active interest in structuring the future of our town and to remind all that it will be determined by a public referendum.”

At each Neighbourhood Plan meeting there will be displays to help explain exactly what the plan is. If you are unable to make any of the dates and times, however, you will be able to give your opinions online through a questionnaire available in early March.
