THE search is on once again to find local stars who make a big impact in Andover.

The Pride of Andover Awards were launched on Andover High Street this Saturday ahead of the awards evening, which celebrates the most generous and inspiring people from the town and nearby villages.

The celebration night will be held at The Lights on 28 October with TV personality Esther Rantzen hosting proceedings.

Nominations are now open for all the award categories, including the prestigious Spirit of Andover and Heart of Gold awards.

Other awards will be given to the fundraiser, young person, good neighbour, inspiring person, environmental champion and carer of the year.

There will be a special health award for a nurse, health visitor, paramedic or anyone who has made a big difference to someone’s health and wellbeing.

Barbara Long, part of the Pride of Andover awards committee, thanked the many sponsors of the event, she said: “It is a pleasure to welcome them on board once again. We never presume to take their generosity for granted, but the committee really appreciate their continued support, which enables the Pride Awards to take place.”

David Mellor & Sons Jewellers have returned as the awards main sponsor with Simplyhealth, Barclays, Belvoir Lettings and the Star and Garter also sponsoring the event.

Nominations can be made at prideofandoverawards.org.uk or by filling in a nomination form and posting it to: Pride of Andover Awards, 66C High Street, Andover, SP10 1NG.
